What Happens During a Root Canal?
After numbing your mouth and placing a dental dam, we will create an opening in the tooth. The infected dental pulp will be removed, and the tooth’s canals will be thoroughly cleaned. Once we’re sure that there are no harmful bacteria left in the tooth, the space will be filled with gutta-percha. We’ll need to reseal the tooth to prevent a new infection from occurring, and you may need to get a crown to keep the now-weakened dental structure safe during normal chewing function.
